I believe the academic challenges students face are deeply meaningful. Yet learning is hard work, and it is easy to lose sight of the big picture. I started Revelation Learning to help guide students through the complexities of their education to experience that 'Aha!' moment through active discovery and play-based learning activities. I don't seek to remove the challenge of learning, but to provide a framework for students to grow through it. The Book of Revelation revealed the divine purpose hidden within the trials of the early church. Similarly, I help students not only master the material but also see the invitation to know God through the learning process.
I have seven years of experience tutoring students, with five years as a classroom teacher. Prior to teaching in a classroom I served as a head pastor, and before that I worked as a software engineer. My experience in software gives me an expertise in science, math and engineering. My time serving as a pastor has trained me how to listen well. My work as an educator has helped me to know how people learn - to sense when they need support, when they need more practice, and when they are missing a foundational skill that might require going backwards a bit before we can move forwards.
